NAFA is the North American Fastpitch Association, which hosts the largest annual men's fastpitch softball tournament in the world.   It was founded in 1993 by and for fastpitch people, its teams and players, and serves the fastpitch community of North America, and beyond.  Last year's World Series in Salem, Oregon was the organization's tenth Fastpitch World Series, and hosted teams from the United States, Canada, Hawaii, and even Japan. The organization is headed up by Executive Director Benjie Hedgecock First Vice President Jim "Bob" Williamson,  its Executive Committee of Regional Vice Presidents, and supported by its state and regional directors.  Founder Pat Bucknell serves as Executive Director Emeritus, after 11 years of serving as the organization's Executive Director.

NAFA decided it  wanted an organization that was run by Fastpitch people, and was designed to help Class A- B-C, ASA,  Men’s fastpitch. To have a set of rules that would help the game and to promote Fastpitch softball at the lower ranks. We wanted it to include the entire North American continent. To develop a system to help teams finances, and to get national sponsor to help promote fastpitch.

NAFA is in 42 states, 6 Canadian provinces and Mexico. In its World Series NAFA has had players from all over the world including, New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, Mexico, and Japan. Their World Series tournament had 61 teams in 1993, 62 in 1994, 111 in 1995, 105 in 1996, 102 in 1997, 120 in 1998, 132 in 1999, 106 in 2000, and 108 in 2001, 98 in 2002, and 115 in 2002.   In 2004, NAFA will hold the World Series in Hutchinson, Kansas, August 20-29, 2004, with 2005 slated for Mankato, Minnesota.  NAFA is expecting over 100 teams from all over North American area as well as from Hawaii and beyond. 

In 2003, NAFA added an "Open" division, while 2004 will see the addition of an "A Major" division, giving NAFA five separate divisions of play at its World Series, the largest fastpitch tournament in the world.
