By the Numbers - Part II

With many of you in Southern California headed out to Palm Springs for a fun (albeit hot) weekend of fastpitch, we have a few more numbers for you to ponder while you're killing time at work on Friday. Exactly what are you doing here at Morning Brief anyway, when you're supposed to be working? Thinking about playing ball, of course. So in today's installment of "By the Numbers", we chart the Strength of Schedule for the Palm Springs II (Alliance) tournament. (click that blue hyperlink). The chart shows where each opponent ranks in the standings, and then crunches the numbers to show the overall "strength of schedule" for each team. Toughest schedule of the weekend? That's owned by the Primos.
And lest we forget, the teams in the So Cal A/B league are also playing this weekend (April 24-25), up in Carpenteria (near Santa Barbara). I think it's safe to say that not too many lawns will get mowed this weekend, with nearly everyone going to games.

This will be the second of five league weekends for the So Cal ASA A/B league. Going in to this one, Captain Dans and the Bombers lead in the standings with 4-1 records. The next after this one will be May 22-23, 2004 in Lancaster, a joint ASA event that will see both the A/B teams and the Alliance "C" teams in one locale.

The following weekend, four of the six So Cal A/B teams (Team Rainey, Captain Dan's, the So Cal Bombers and Mexicali) will be headed to St. George, Utah for the Red Rock tournament, one of the premier tournaments on the West Coast, May 1-2, 2004. Fastpitchwest will be attending that one, bringing you game by game coverage, photos, as well as broadcasting a half dozen games via streaming audio. Watch the Red Rock Tournament pages for more information next week.
