Victoria Takes Two from Calgary

May 28, 2004

 Victoria, BC Victoria Traveller's Inn Fastpitch team defeated Calgary Diamonds twice Friday night in Super Series action at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria. Traveller's Inn came from behind to win the first game 7-6, then held off a late rally to win the second game 3-2.

 

In the first game shortstop Marty Steen punched a single up the middle to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning. Jeff Hurford hit a home run for Traveller's Inn.

 

In the second game winning pitcher Collin McKenzie struck out 14 batters in the complete-game win, and was backed by home runs from Steen and Harvey Stevenson. These teams play another doubleheader Saturday night at Royal Athletic Park - first game starts at 6:30 P.M.
