Victoria Traveller's
Inn hosted Calgary Diamonds Saturday night in a Super Series Fastpitch
doubleheader at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, B.C. Calgary won the
first game by a score of 6-4, while Traveller's Inn came back to win
the second game 4-3 in 9 innings. Combined with a doubleheader sweep
Friday night, Traveller's
Inn won the 4-game series by taking 3 of the 4 games. In
tonight's first game Andrew Kirkpatrick was the complete-game winning
pitcher, finishing with 11 strikeouts. Trent Rubley and Boomer Brush
homered for
Calgary,
while Gerry Kennedy hit a home run for Traveller's
Inn.
In Game 2, winning pitcher Rick Smith went the distance for
Traveller's Inn, striking out 11 batters. Calgary scored an unearned
run in the top of the 7th inning to tie the game 3-3, then Traveller's
Inn scored the winning run on a
Calgary error with two out in the bottom of the 9th inning. Jeff
Hurford and Kevin
Bobroske both hit home runs for Traveller's
Inn.
Next home action for
Traveller's
Inn is June 19 & 20 when they host the Neil Leard Memorial
Tournament - this will also serve as the area ISC qualifying
tournament.
