Story soon !

Note from Al Doran

Tuesday, June 13th, 2006

A few people have asked why we no longer send out so many news items by email. Well the primary reason is that it takes too long, each message takes up to 40 minutes to go to the full list.

But another good reason is that many of our subscribers now automatically go to our news site to get the news. http://www.alsfastball.com/ has all the latest news and on any given morning this time of year there are 3 or 4 stories posted by teams, fans, etc. for all to read.

Our backup site at FastpitchWest also has most of the same news
NEWS-2: http://fastpitchwest.com/alsfastball
but sometimes it takes minutes or hours for that site to post what I send them.

We will continue to try and send as many major stories as we can to the full list but we strongly encourage everyone to check the NEWS sites daily:

NEWS-1: http://www.AlsFastball.com/
NEWS-2: http://fastpitchwest.com/alsfastball

thanks
Al

The California Lumberkings decision to sign Darren Strang and Jon Nimmo from B.C. made a big impression on the ISC II ranking committee as the Lumberkings vaulted all the way up to #13 in the June 1 rankings, climbing 33 spots from #46.

A-1 Tank came in at #25, up two spots from #27.

Other western teams include: #16 Colorado Rage, #21 JRW & Associates, #33 Grand Prairie, AB Pride & #37 Lloydminster, AB Dodgers.

The top 10 break down as follows with preseason ranking in brackets:

1. (2) Niagara, ON Snappers
2. (4) Port Elgin, ON Blue Devils
3. (1) Elmira, ON Cubs
4. (5) Bridgeport, ON Braves
5. (3) Alvinston, ON Indians
6. (8) Oswego, NY Cutro Professional Services
7. (6) Ottawa, ON Team Easton Thunder
8. (7) Hermann, MO Black Gold
9. (10) Harriston, ON Mercurys
10. (9) Perkasie, PA Rise

A total of 37 teams received at least one vote from the panel of 12 judges. Two sets of rankings were chosen at random to be dropped from this term’s final rankings. A different two sets will be dropped in all future rankings.

To see the full list with each judges score, please see the ISC II section of the ISC website.

The rankings will form the basis for seeding teams in the fifth annual ISC II Tournament of Champions which will be played August 13-18 at Budd Park in Kitchener and Kinsmen Park in Cambridge, Ontario. The tournament will feature 40 teams from across North America playing a four-game round robin schedule in eight pools of five teams each. The top three teams from each pool advance to a single elimination playoff bracket.
