Cal Cup III – October 28-29, 2006

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

The “California Cup” Tournament was established in 2004, to encourage statewide competition among teams, with the tournament travelling to each of the three regions, North, South and Central. A perennial “Cal Cup” trophy is handed down from winner to winner, a la Lord Stanley’s Cup. In 2004, it was held by Fred Hanker and his Long Beach Black Sox. At present, it’s in the “protective custody” of David Jordan of the Northern California Chaos. (Cardinals).

2006 will be the third year for the tournament, with the first two taking place in Fresno, (Central) California, and Palm Springs (Southern) California. That means the tournament heads north, and this year, will be held in Hayward, California, just east of the bay area, and hosted by the South County Softball Association. Hayward is about 15 minutes from the Oakland, CA airport. Southwest Airlines flies to Oakland, and Amtrak trains run into Oakland, near Hayward.
