SCIFL Weekend in Ventura

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

More details on the SCIFL Championship Games in Ventura:
From the SCIFL News blog:

Ventura A-Major Championship Game
“A-Major” Championship Game
San Diego Primetime – 5, Rude-Pac – 4 (14 Innings)

The game had Rob Davis of Rude-Pac facing off against Mitch Mendenhal of Primetime. Primetime scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a Mike York double. ude-Pac came right back in the top of the second with Ruben Lopez opening the inning up with a triple and scoring on a single by Jose “Paco” Hernandez. Paco then came around to score on a signal by Javier Fierro to tie the game.

The score remained scoreless for the next eight innings with both pitchers and defenses getting out of jams, including three innings of using the International Tie Breaker. Some of the highlights during this time:

San Diego, Latin Heat Win SCIFL at Ventura

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

From the SCIFL News blog:

Quick news from Ventura…
June 25th, 2007

Latin Heat wins the A championship game over the So Cal Hustlers with Gilbert Joiner coming in relief of Cecillo Smalling to halt the seventh inning Hustler rally and leave the tying run at third base to seal a 3 – 2 victory.

In the A-Major championship game, which took over 3 hours to complete, it was San Diego Primetime coming up with the last run in the bottom of the fourteenth inning to edge Rude-Pac. Mitch Mendenhal of Primetime and Rob Davis of Rude-Pac both went the distance in the circle. While the drive back home was always in the back of my mind, this was an excellent game to watch as both teams kept coming up with great plays to keep it going.

SCIFL News Blog

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

We’ve added a SCIFL News Blog to the SCIFL website. For your convenience, you can reach it by clicking the “News” menu button on the main SCIFL website. You’ll find a familiar feel to it, as it uses a layout as similar to the “Morning Brief” and “Deuce” blogs here at Fastpitchwest. It is an addition to, not replacement of the SCIFL site.

Hope you’ll find it easier to get your latest SCIFL news, or search for whatever information you want. Fred Hanker, Robert Hernandez and Ron Rupp will be posting information to keep you up to date on all of the latest SCIFL news.

Today’s addition is ballpark and travel information for the league’s next weekend, June 22-23, 2007 in Ventura. You’ll also find some handy links on the right hand side, to various SCIFL pages, the NAFA sites, etc.
