June 5 ISC Rankings

Orillia Quaker Riversharks in full possession of number one spot in the world tournament rankings.

On Sunday June 3, when Orillia Quaker Riversharks faced off against the Kitchener Hallman Twins in Woodstock at the Annual Legends of Fastball Tournament, Kitchener held the number five spot and Orillia held the number one spot. At the end of the day, Orillia came out on top and retained the number one spot, and Kitchener moved up a spot to number 4 in the rankings. It was a close game.

Patsy’s and Broken Bow Gremlins held onto the number 2 and 3 spots.

A total of 28 teams from across North America were voted on by the panel of 13 rankers.

The top 10 are as follows:

Watch for the results of a number of weekend tournaments coming up, including a number of World Tournament qualifiers. Its the results of these tournaments that give ammunition to the rankers to vote on the teams.

The rankings will form the basis for seeding teams in the annual ISC World Tournament which will be played August 10-18 at Peter Hallman Ballyard in Kitchener, Ontario.

[WOODSTOCK, ONTARIO] – The Quaker River Sharks of Orillia, Ontario started their 2007 tournament schedule with a very successful weekend at the 4th annual Legends of Fastball tournament in Woodstock, Ontario. The River Sharks went a perfect 6 & 0 in capturing their second straight Legends of Fastball tournament championship.

The Legends of Fastball tournament is a great early season tournament that gives all the Ontario teams a chance to see what each other has for the season. The tournament is well organized within a beautiful park with good diamonds and exceptional support from the host committee and band of volunteers. Major thanks to the tournament organizers Larry Lynch, Brian Paton and Chuck Hendricks for all their hard work and especially to Joe Todd, who seemed to be everywhere at the same time. (more…)

ISC # 15 Ranked Portland Tops # 9 Ranked Vancouver

[Vancouver, BC] – The Vancouver Grey Sox and Portland DeMarini played a pair of doubleheaders on the weekend, with Portland staging two comeback wins in close ball games and each squad winning a game by a lopsided margin in 5 innings. The weather was great all weekend – sunny and in the low 70’s. There were decent crowds for the early season contests on both days, and an added feature on Sunday was the attendance of a squirt boys softball group from a nearby community. Both teams were missing several veterans and Portland did not have Michael White in the line-up.
