2007 ISC Guide Now Available

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

[Salt Lake City, UT] – The 2007 edition of the annual ISC World Championship Guide is now available for purchase. This new edition has 152 pages filled with information about the 2006 ISC World Tournament, the 2006 ISC II Tournament of Champions, 2006 Developmental Tournaments for both 23U and U19 teams. It contains historical records of most offensive, defensive and pitching statistics going back to 1947. The 2007 Guide has more photos than any prior editions. The Hall of Fame section has 8-pages of photos of 2006 inductees and the text of a very inspirational talk given by 12 year old Johnathon Baker of Kitchener. It also includes a complete list of all Hall of Fame inductees, by year and the rules for nominating someone for Hall of Fame consideration. Photos of all 32-World Tournament teams, World Tournament umpires, ISC II umpires and ISC Commissioners are in full color. It shows the following from 1947 to present: ISC World Champions, Most Valuable Players, Outstanding Pitchers, Leading Hitters and Most RBI. It has a great feature article on Dave Blackburn and his streaming team’s efforts to successfully provide video streaming of world tournament games from Kitchener last year. The all-time list of ISC All-World players, from 1947 thru 2006, covers 14 pages. It has a separate list of the 47 players making All-World teams 5 or more times. The Guide contains ISC rules and newly revised Region definitions.

Paul Algar update

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

From Al’s Fastball:

Hi Al, as you all know I was attacked in New Zealand on the way home from my local bar by a man wheeling a crow bar. I was knocked unconscious and repeatedly hit over the head. I was later found laying in the gutter bleeding from the head and taken to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove bone fragments and blood from my brain, they also placed two metal plates in to raise my skull from the brain. My nose was broken (again) and I received gashes to my ear and head that required 22 stitches. I spent 4 days in the hospital recovering and still get frequent headaches and dizziness, within a millimeter of losing my life, thankfully I will make a full recovery.

Al, that is not my main reason for this e-mail, due to such a large amount of get well wishes that would take me a month to reply to, and most did not come with a return address unless specifically included. I really would like to thank everyone through you that sent me get well wishes, cards and emails for a speedy recovery. I got emails from people that I have never met before who have seen me play, and from countries, team Canada, team USA, Australia and New Zealand black Sox. Not to mention my fellow competitor, from the best the game has ever seen to young men starting out. This was an unbelievably difficult time for me and you all lifted my spirits and touched me, thanks for your compassion, I hope I never have to return the favor. love your family, cherish life, play hard, there could be no tomorrow.

The real bad news is that I can have only one beer, for now.

Thanks again.

Houston Aces Set Clocks Ahead for Red Rock

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

The Houston Aces will be returning to St. George, Utah to play in the Annual Red Rock Tournament. The Aces are looking to improve on last years 2nd place finish and are coming with a revamped pitching staff and some additions on the field. This years roster for Red Rock includes

Terry Luster – P Saul Davil – Coach
Ward Gosse – P Javier Cruz – Asst. Coach
Doug Gillis – P Arturo Davila – Asst. Coach

Amir Askandari – Ut
Rick Barajas – 1B/Of
Abel Davila – Ut
Arturo Davila – 1B/3B
Moises Davila – 1B/3B
Polo Davila – C/DH
Saul Davila – Ut
Ben Duron – Of
Willie Echave – SS
Chuck Feliz – C
Ramses Orozco – Of
Ram Riojas – Ut
Anselmo Zamorategui – Of

The complete schedule and final roster will be released as soon as it is finalized.

Editor’s note: The Houston Aces lost their first game of the 2006 Red Rock Tournament – by forfeit – due to a time zone mix-up, but roared back strong to make it all the way to the championship game before falling to the 2006 Champions, the So Cal Bombers. (The Bombers were runners-up in 2005, taking care of unfinished business last year.) If Houston wishes to follow in the Bombers’ footsteps, going from runner-up to champion, they’ll have some stiff competition, but boast a strong trio of pitchers in Terry Luster, Doug Gillis and Ward Gosse. No truth to the rumor that Houston’s 2006 runner-up trophies had clocks on them, but you can bet they’ll have the time zone issue sorted out for this year. Many of the players stay in hotels in nearby Mesquite, Nevada, (30 minutes away) or come in through Las Vegas, NV (90 minutes away) — so a word to the wise – St. George, Utah one hour ahead of Nevada/California time.

May 1 Deadline for ISC PRAWNs and Out-of-Region Forms

Friday, March 16th, 2007

The May 1 deadline for ISC teams to file PRAWN declarations, preliminary rosters and Out of Region forms, is rapidly approaching.

This is a reminder of the upcoming deadline.

PRAWN Players – Each team having PRAWN players must file a preliminary roster form by May 1, declaring their PRAWN’s for the 2007 season. The new roster form was recently announced and is one submitted by email attachment. The form is available at www.iscfastpitch.com From front page, click on Rules and Forms in the left margin. We encourage teams to download the roster form to their computer, complete the form, save it to your computer and then send your roster by email attachment to the proper statisticians. Then, when the next roster due date arrives July 15, you only need to make changes to the saved form.

PRAWN declaration is not optional. It is an ISC rule.

Preliminary Rosters – Preliminary rosters for both World Tournament and ISC II teams are also due May 1. The roster form is found on the ISC Web Site www.iscfastpitch.com Click on Rules and Forms in the left margin. Preliminary rosters are to be submitted to the proper statisticians whose email addresses appear on the roster form itself. Review saving and filing process covered in PRAWN filings above.

Letter of Intent – Out of Region (OOR) Form – The 2007 season begins the new Out of Region concept, replacing the former Out of Area plan. The newly revised Out of Region form is also displayed on the ISC web site in the Rules and Forms page. To save teams and players time and to avoid 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation faxes, we will accept an OOR form without the players signature, provided the player sends an email to iscken@comcast.net, stating their intention to play for XYZ team in 2007. That email must arrive no later than May 1 and the team manager can mail the actual OOR form.

The operation is the same as the former Out of Area program. The forms and fee must be postmarked to the ISC Executive Director no later than May 1. The first three OOR players per team are subject to a $100 fee each. The fourth and subsequent OOR players per team are subject to a $300 fee each.

Out of Region rules apply to both ISC World Tournament and ISC II teams.

If anyone has difficulty downloading or printing these forms from the web site, please email iscken@comcast.net and a form or forms will be sent back to you as an email attachment.

Ken
