TNT tops ISC II Preseason Rankings
Tuesday, May 6th, 2008May 6, 2008 – South Lebanon, PA TNT will open the defence of their ISC II crown atop the rankings. TNT topped a selection of nearly 50 teams considered by the ISC II ranking committee.
Rankers slotted the 2007 ISC II Tournament of Champions finalists California Lumberkings in second place while a revamped Perkasie, PA Rise lineup comes in at #3.

May 1 Reminder To ISC and ISC II Teams

This is just a preseason reminder for all teams that are considering ISC and ISC II play for the 2008 season.
Rosters – Pre-season team rosters (and PRAWN declarations) are due by May 1 for both World Tournament and ISC II teams. The roster form is available from the ISC web site www.iscfastpitch.com and click on the Rules and Forms link on the front page. If you’re unable to save the roster form from the web site, let me know and I’ll send you an email attachment of one.
Rosters can be changed during the season and future roster submissions are due July 15 (for printing in the tournament programs) and August 4 (final roster for World Tournament and ISC II Tournament of Champions.

Out of Region (Letter of Intent) Forms – The OOR filings are to be postmarked to me by May 1. The form is also available on the ISC web site, Rules and Forms link. It is important to remember, OOR players cannot be added after May 1 without specific approval of the ISC Executive Committee. World Tournament teams are reminded that only 2 OOR pitchers per team may participate in official ISC competition. ISC II teams are reminded of the special OOR limitations applicable to ISC II teams and players. Region definitions are also shown on the ISC Web Site, Rules and Forms link.
Out of region fees are $100 each for the first three players per team and $300 each for OOR’s beyond three.
Championship Tournaments Preliminary Schedule of Events – With the 2008 World Tournament being only 7-days and the ISC II Tournament of Champions being only 4-days, we have had to alter the times of various functions as follows:

Team Rankings – Pre-season team rankings for both World Tournament and ISC II teams will be available and distributed in early May. Final rankings determine the seeding for both championship tournaments. We remind teams again, to fully utilize the Internet to update everyone (including ranking committees) of your team roster, schedule and tournament results during the season.

2008 Hoffman Rise Roster and Schedule
Wednesday, April 9th, 2008Perkasie, PA – The Hoffman Rise Fastpitch Team, based out of South Eastern Pennsylvania, are pleased to announce their 2008 roster and schedule. We hope to qualify for the ISC II ToC, being held this year in Appleton/Kimberly, WI. The Rise finished in 5th place in ’07 and are looking for the gold in ’08. We lost a few players from our ’07 team. Catcher Jim Lawrence and outfielder Ryan Frank will not be with the Rise, as they opted to play for Keatings Fitness for ’08. Lance Bauer will reunite with his former teammates in Lebanon, ’07 ToC Champions South Lebanon TNT. Keith Hammerschmidt will be taking a year off from playing, but will remain with team in an administrative role. Keith has been with the Rise since their inception, and was very instrumental in our off-season acquisitions and fund raising. The 2008 ISC World Championship Guide is now available for ordering.
The new edition is 152 pages full of ISC World Tournament and ISC II Tournament of Champions photos, ’07 stats, historical all-time stats, Developmental results and photos, Hall of Fame and Carrol Forbes Foundation inductions and presentations, color team photos of all 32-teams entered in the 2007 ISC World Tournament and much, much more.

ISC World Tournament 2008 – Kimberly, WI

And while we’re talking about the ISC World Tournament, here is the logo for this year’s tournament, slated for Kimberly, Wisconsin. Click it for more information on the event. I’ll be heading back to Wisconsin to help with the ISC II broadcasts this year, which will be held just down the road in Appleton, Wisconsin, and looking forward to seeing Kimberly for the first time in nineteen years, when I went back as a member of the 1989 Vista Rangers team, the predecessor team to the Vista Bombers Version 3.0 that formed the next year.
As noted on the Kimberly Recreation Association (KRA) website, this will be a record setting 11th time they have hosted the event:
1972 – 1975 – 1978 – 1982 – 1985 – 1989 – 1993 – 1996 – 1998 – 2003 – 2008
I recall reading about the 1975 World Tournament, won by the legendary Long Beach Nitehawks, for their record 10th ISC World title. The ‘Hawks defeated the Southern Truck Raiders of Sun City, Arizona in the title game that year. Bob Todd of the Nitehawks was named the Outstanding pitcher that year, with a 5-0 record and 0.60 ERA, while teammate Jerry Flory nabbed the Most Valuable Player award.
