Fastball This Week
From Dennis Dosman

Editor’s note: A good batch of information from the Ontario province and thereabouts, from Dennis Dosman:

First of all…..I sent a note out last week to many of you about our good pal, former TienHoa and Waterloo Twin coach Doug Davies saying that he was in London’s University hospital for surgery. Doug’s daughter Jen has been keeping some of us informed…and the latest I have is that he is still in ICU with hope that he will soon be released to a floor…prayers and well wishes to one of fastball’s finest….

Niagara on the Lake, the Snapper Shootout this past weekend….got off to a great start on Friday night…Saturday a complete schedule in but Sunday was a rain out…..and the tournament was called early Sunday morning…

Here are some highlights courtesy of Al’s Fastball…and Dan ‘Bernard of the Snappers

Editor’s note: Cap tip to Blair Setford for getting the word out about the Ballparkradio broadcast of the championship game today. We were experimenting with a cellular wireless card for our broadcasts, and decided to turn out “test” into a regular broadcast. We were pleased with the results, in that it delivered a solid, stable connection with good sound quality. This bodes well for our ability to broadcast from locales without a permanent internet connection. We welcome additional feedback on the signal and sound quality from anyone that tuned in today. You can email us: live (at) ballparkradio.com

Rain Ends 2010 Snapper Shootout

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

With a ton of rain overnight and continuing rain for most of the day forecasted, the tournament committee has decided that the tournament will be cancelled.

The total prize money was dispersed as following:

DIVISION WINNERS will receive $600. These include Niagara Snappers, Elmira Expos, Alvinston Indians and Waterdown Hammer.

2nd PLACE IN DIVISION will receive $350. These include Quyon Flyers, Hill United, Jarvis Travelers and Palermo Athletics.

A SIDE had a total of $3800 assigned to it. Money was awarded based on finish in round robin play.

B SIDE TEAMS will receive $50. These include KW Cubs, Owen Sound Selects, Cobourg Force and Oshawa BB’s.

B WINNER was to receive $200 in prize money so we divided it by 4.

All $4000 in prize money was dispersed in what we believe was a fair fashion, rewarding the teams based on their finish in round robin play. We appreciate all the teams understanding in this situation.
