New Email Address for NAFA

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Notice to NAFA Teams, Managers, etc.

Effective immediately, NAFA has a new general email address:
nafa2007 (at) nafafastpitch.com

The change was necessitated by the not so bright folks at AOL. They can’t distinguish between spam emails and ones that are sent to members of an organization. NAFA was sending out game times to managers for the NAFA Masters World Series, and AOL decided to shut down the email box, calling it “spam”. Nice, huh? Little wonder that there are legions who have a strong dislike for AOL.

Anyway, be sure to update your email address book.

Decos-EHS European Cup Winners Cup Champions

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

From

From Roberto Bahler:

Congratulations to Decos EHS for winning the European Cup Winners Cup!!!

I was reading the last article posted by Norman Ames last Monday. Norman mentioned all the very talented players on the roster. He also mentioned Rob DeMooij and every single thing he said about Rob is correct. He loves the game and has done a great job by running the team for so many years.

But let me tell you something, Norman forgot to mention one very important person in that team. The person that makes all the
contacts around the globe and makes sure that EHS gets good players for every season. The person that keeps players together. The person that makes all the arrangements to assure that all foreign players have a good time while living in Holland. The person that always has positive things to say even in adversity.

That person is Norman Ames.

Cheers bulldogs!!!!!!

Greater Ottawa Fastball League on YouTube

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Thanks to Adam Brown of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League for sharing this television news report, from CTV which features players Dan Konkle, Randy Peck, among others. I think that’s big Dan Bradley pitching near the end of the clip. Great to see the game getting this kind of coverage.

(It probably goes without saying, but click that arrow in the middle to play video)

From

Ottawa, ON

This summer, the local CTV affiliate in Ottawa did a feature on the Greater Ottawa Fastball League, where the sports reporter
came and interviewed some players (Dan Konkle, Randy Peck) and the reporter Terry Marcotte actually played in the game and experienced the action.

The game features Ottawa Team Easton (in red) and Stittsville 56ers (in black).

Watch the video on YouTube at the following address: http://youtube.com/watch?v=IFs1OiNoOqs

Thanks to Shawn Williams, coach of Carp I4C Victory, for contacting CTV Ottawa and setting up this segment.

Quick note to let the Western Region Masters teams know that the schedule is due up soon — watch here at the Morning Brief and at the NAFA website.

For those requesting directions to the field, here they are:
To print this blog post, click the title (to put it on a single page), then print.

Here is the Google Map as well, click links for larger map or driving directions. The directions above are from NAFA and may be more reliable, but the map will help you see where it is located in relation to the airport and hotels. Click the “view larger map” link at the bottom, and you can see the fields.

Some simplified directions from our friend JRW who is familiar with the complex:

Centennial Park is North and East of Carson City. The 4 fields are at the top of the hill on Heritage Way, not the fields next to the highway.

Coming from Reno – Take Arrowhead Drive East to the turn-off, then North on Centennial Park Drive to the Ball Park, CORRECTION ! It appears from the Google Map that the 395 By-Pass has now been constructed. Coming from Reno, use that By-Pass to reach Hiway 50 which is the eastbound road to the Ball-Park.

Here’s a map of the route from the Reno airport to the ballpark:

Click here for a PDF map of Carson City.

We are also providing directions from NAFA (below the jump) which are a bit more complicated — use either or both as you see fit. We have NOT been to Carson City and cannot vouch for either set.
