The Midwest Stampede / Albaugh Mens Major Level Open Fast-pitch Team just Captured The Eau Claire , Wisconsin ” Sawdust Days Invitational ” , by Out – Hitting THE Number ranked team , The Farm 7 – 4 . The Farm are also The defending International Softball Congress World Champions ! This is a FANTASTIC Spring board into a Busy week for The Stampede Staff . Wednesday night at The GDM Complex will be a warm-up for the ACTION taking place at The Elkhart , Iowa Softball Compex this weekend . Thursday night at The Iowa Cubs – Fastpitch , Food , and FUN with The Stampede Personel ! ALL players in Uniform young and old will Receive a FREE Ticket while supplies last and a Meet & Greet with The Stampede / Albaugh team that has the World of Men’s Fastball BUZZING !!! Friday night at 8:45 pm and Saturday games at 5:00 and 6:45 The Teal & Orange will Challenge teams from Omaha , Minnesota and Wisconsin in pool play for Sunday’s Wrap-up .

On a slightly warm weekend in which the retractable dome did not close and the air conditioner was broken, the Alliance completed the sixth tournament of the season at Little Lake Park in Santa Fe Springs. Ok, there’s no dome or a/c and it was very hot but Rude-Pac did win the Upper Division Championship with a 9 – 0 victory over San Diego Primetime. In the “A” division, Panteras II edged the Caribbean 6 – 5 in their Championship Game.

USA Jr. Men Fall to 1-2 with Loss to South Africa

South Africa score 2 in the second, and 3 in the third, taking a 5-0 lead into the 6th. USA mustered two runs in the top of the sixth, but South Africa put the game away with 5 more runs 5 runs in the bottom of the sixth, for a run-rule shortened 10-2 victory. South Africa outhit the USA 12-3 as the USA offense continues to struggle thus far in the tournament.

Broken Bow Tops So Cal Bombers, 1-0 for Rose Cup Title

Quarterfinals:
Horse Lake Thunder over Vancouver Grey Sox
Host Portland DeMarini team defeated the Bakersfield, CA Lumberkings 6 – 3 to advance to the semi final vs. Broken Bow.

Semi-Finals:
Broken Bow over Portland out of the event with a 5 inning victory.
So Cal Bombers 3, Horse Lake Thunder

Championship Game:
Broken Bow 1, So Cal Bombers 0
(Broken Bow scored the game’s only run in the 7th inning)

Vancouver Grey Sox at Rose Cup, Part II

Vancouver Grey Sox & Playoff Results from the Rose Cup Tournament

[Portland, OR ] – The Vancouver Grey Sox were eliminated from further action this morning at the Rose Cup Tournament being held in Portland, Oregon. Horse Lake, AB Thunder beat the Grey Sox 2 – 1. Game details are as follows:

Horse Lake, AB Thunder 2 – Vancouver Grey Sox 1
WP – Darren Zack (6) 2IP, 1H, 2Ks in relief of Sean Whitten, 5IP, 1H, 2Ks
LP – Nick Underhill, 7IP, 2R, 3H, 6Ks
Evan Potskin delivered a 2 run homerun in the top of the sixth to provide the Thunder with the margin of victory.

Other playoff results were the host Portland DeMarini team defeating the Bakersfield, CA Lumberkings 6 – 3 to advance to the semi final vs. Broken Bow. Bow then knocked the Portland side out of the event with a 5 inning victory. Horse Lake by virtue of their win over the Grey Sox faced Palm Springs, CA So Cal Bombers, with So Cal winning 3 – 0. That set up a very good final matchup between So Cal and Broken Bow. Broken Bow won the tight contest with a run in the seventh to prevail 1 – 0, and are to be congratulated for their fine play in capturing the event. Winning pitcher was Andrew Kirkpatrick, losing pitcher was Lucas Mata.

After a 2 – 2 record at the Rose Cup the Grey Sox seasonal record now stands at 22 – 5. Next action is June 28 and 29 when we will be hosting Portland, Oregon DeMarini for a 4 game super series in Vancouver. Game times at South Memorial Park are 6:30 & 8:30 pm Saturday and 11:00 am & 1:00 pm Sunday.
