Kitchener in Winner’s Bracket Final

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

The two-time defending champions, the Kitchener Rivershark Twins outlasted Chicago New York in 11 innings, for a 6-5 win, in one of two winner’s bracket semi-finals, scoring in walk off fashion on a two-out smash to third by Blair Ezekiel, cashing in the game winning run.

The game lasted 4 hours, pushing the 9pm Jarvis Travelers v. NY Gremlins nightcap back to an 11:30pm start time. Grant Patterson picked up the win in relief of Donnie Scott, while Jeremy Manley went the distance for Chicago New York. Kitcher overcame a 4 run sixth inning by Chicago New York, which included a three run homer by Frankie Perez that gave Chicago New York a short lived 5-2 lead. Kitchener scored three of their own in the bottom of the 6th inning, extending the game to 11 innings before Ezekiel’s game winner.
