Meet the broadcast crew from Softbol Radio, who have been broadcasting ISC World Tournament games in Spanish, for the first time ever in 2010. The crew is working in collaboration with Ballparkradio and the ISC, with broadcasts originating in Argentina, and being streamed via a remote connection with Ballparkradio.
(Left to right: Raul Bittor (Scoreboard), Duilio Scialacomo (color commentator), and CRISTIAN LACOUT (play by play). Cristian is the founder of Softbol Radio.)
The Softbol Radio crew broadcast the Tuesday night game between the NY Gremlins and Minnesota Angels – the night that fellow Argentine Juan Potoliccio struck out 22 — and another tonight, the Winner’s Bracket final between Kitchener and the NY Gremlins. They’ll be back on the air for two more games on the final day of the 2010 ISC World Tournament, at 1pm EDT and 7pm EDT for the Loser’s Bracket Final and Championship game.
Saturday, the crew will grow by one member, as former ISC World Tournament catcher Julio Gamarci (who caught fellow Argentine Lucas Mata) will be sitting in to add some color commentary.
The Spanish language broadcasts have proven to be very popular with Spanish speaking fans – drawing the largest number of listeners of all of the ISC WT/Ballparkradio broadcasts. We are delighted to have been a part of the project, and hope that it’s just the beginning of more to come in the future.
To Cristian, and his crew, and to all Spanish speaking fastball fans around the world, we say “Bienvenidos” ! (Welcome!)

A bit of background on Softbol Radio’s broadcaster, Cristian Lacout: and Softbolradio
Broadcasting a softball game was an idea that firmly showed up in my mind, from the moment I knew I was running out of gas as a player; let say early 2009.
Radio broadcasting and sport journalism always caught my attention and then, I saw the opportunity to join both with my beloved sport.
In Argentina, Fastpitch Softball is not among people’s favorite sports, and there is no radio or tv station that broadcast a single game nor a single fastpitch oriented program.
Sadly, all media turn around futbol (soccer), with a little place to basketball, tennis or rugby.
Anyway, Parana, the city where I was born and where I live is the most important place to play ball, by far, because of the number of players, teams and titles at Nationals.
So, I thought, there was a good reason to try to bring bats and gloves to a large number of (eager to listen to a fastpitch show) fans. And the web gave me the chance and tools to do so via blogs and podcasts.
In the other hand, I have listened to Ballparkradio ISC broadcastings (audio and video) from the beginning, and always dreamed about the possibility to broadcast an ISC game to the Spanish speaking people.
