Boys of Summer, So Cal II

Our second report on So Cal teams and players at the Boys of Summer Tournament in Denmark, Wisconsin.

-The So Cal Bombers suffered a 10-0 drubbing at the hands of the ISC World’s #1 ranked team, County Materials of Marathon, Wisconsin. Australian lefty Andrew Kirkpatrick picked up the shutout win. The Bombers bounced back to win their third and final game of the day, a 8-0 win over Planggers Furniture, with Tony Peeples picking up his second win in as many starts. The Bombers finish the pool play portion of the tournament with a 2-1 record, good for second place in their pool (County going 3-0). The Bombers are currently ranked #9 in the ISC World rankings released on June 21.

Team Rainey dropped their third game, to pool winner Albaugh, IA, to finish pool play with a 1-2 record. Their victory was a big one though, as they knocked off the #9 ranked team in the ISC World, the Kegel Black Knights of Fargo, North Dakota. (Rainey was ranked #24 in the latest set of rankings, June 21)

Todd Budke’s Farm Tavern team lost their final pool play game, to Albaugh, by an 8-6 score, dropping them to second in their pool, behind Albaugh, IA. Albaugh entered the tournament as the #14 ranked team in the ISC World, while the Farm is ranked #2.
