The team pics of Innovative Communications and So Cal Tribe were not posted because a player on each team decided to pose with gang-type hand signs. In the case of one of the teams, the team was specifically asked not to do it, and they chose to anyway. Those don’t — and won’t — fly at Fastpitchwest. We believe in our mission statement, “It’s All About the Game”, and think that those kind of poses are not. We respectfully choose not to post those kind of photos on this website.
I was disappointed with those two players, ruining the photos for their teammates — especially in view of the fact that Maddy drove just under 300 miles on the day to go up and shoot photos for the players and fans. (I was working and could not go, but she decided to go on her own) She made a special effort to get team pics of all of the teams competing, since she could not be there on Sunday, and wanted to be sure to have a photo of the championship team. As it was, she spent the better part of Sunday, working on prepping the photos, giving up her entire weekend, not to mention spending money renting a lens, as she always does. I know the vast majority of players — all but two — appreciate her efforts. She (and I) appreciate the warm reception you gave her.
The fact that one of the team photos left out is the championship team makes it all the more disappointing. To the other players on those two teams, my apologies, though I trust you understand my decision. If you wish to write to me about it, you can find me at jim (at) fastpitchwest.com.
