Patsy’s wins first ASA Men’s Major Fast Pitch National Championship

South Bend, Ind.—Patsy’s of New York City won its first ever ASA Men’s Major Fast Pitch National Championship on Saturday night with a 9-5 win over the Farm Tavern of Madison, Wis. Gerald Muizelaar, who was named as the Herb Dudley Most Valuable Player, held off a scrappy Farm Tavern squad to collect his third win and secure Patsy’s first ASA Men’s Major National Championship.

Patsy’s Thomas Makea was named as the Batting Champion after going 9-for-18 (.500) during his team’s run to the title. Despite a runner-up finish, the Farm Tavern’s second baseman Zeron Winters was named as the Most Valuable Player after posting a .433 batting average with 13 hits, three home runs and 10 RBI.

Patsy’s cruised in to the championship game with a 6-2 win over the Quaker Riversharks of Ambler, Pa. Frank DeGroat was once again the offensive star for Patsy’s collecting a single, a home run and three RBIin the winning effort. Travis Wise drove in two RBI while Omar Moraga posted a single, a double and an RBI. Adam Folkard was the winning pitcher for Patsy’s after striking out nine.

After dropping its opening game of the tournament to Broken Bow, the Farm Tavern battled all the way back to meet Patsy’s in the championship game. On Saturday alone, the Farm won four games in a row just to get in to the championship game. They started the day with a 10-6 win over the Minn Dak Millers of Fargo, ND at 9 a.m. Jeff Goolagong almost hit for the cycle going 3-for-3 with a double, triple, home run and two RBI.

At 11 a.m. the Farm got their revenge on Broken Bow with an 8-7 victorythat sent the Gremlins home. The win sent the Farm into the semi-finals of the loser’s bracket where they faced Circle Tap of Denmark, Wis., the defending ASA National Champion. Arepeat of 2006 was not to be for Circle Tap as Broken Bow continued their dreamcome back with a 6-2 win to move one step closer to the championship game. Wintersled the way for the Farm with a single, a home run and two RBI.

In the loser’s bracket finals the Farm showed no signs of fatigueas they took down the Quaker Riversharks, who were playing just their secondgame of the day, 8-2, to advance in to the championship game against Patsy’s.Collin Abbott, Donny Hale and Winters were all offensive stars in the win. Abbott had a single, a home run and two RBI, while Dale contributed a single, a double and two RBI. Winters continued his success with a single, two RBI andtwo RBI.
