Six men’s fast-pitch softball teams, including two locals, will compete in the 2008 Larry Smogoleski/Willie Strzynski Memorial Tournament at Oriole Field this weekend.
All games in the double-elimination tourney will be played on Oriole Field’s No. 1 Diamond with action starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and continuing on into the evening.
Play resumes at 9 a.m. Sunday with the championship game slated for 11.
The local teams are Manpower Rookies and GLC1, both of Ludington. The other four teams are Wright Way Tree Company of Eaton Rapids, Hastings Merchants, Munn Manufacturing of Middleville and Excel Appraisal of Lansing.

SATURDAY: Game 1, Manpower Rookies vs. Wright Way Tree Company, 8:30 a.m.; Game 2, GLC1 vs. Hastings Merchants, 10:15 a.m.; Game 3, Munn Manufacturing vs. Manpower, Wright Way winner, 12 p.m.; Game 4, Excel Appraisal vs. GLC1, Hastings winner, 1:45 p.m.; Game 5, GLC1, Hastings loser vs. the game 3 loser, 3:30 p.m.; Game 6, Manpower, Wright Way loser vs. the game 4 loser, 5:15 p.m.; Game 7, Winner’s bracket game, winner advances to championship game, 7 p.m.; Game 8, Loser’s bracket game, 8:45 p.m.
SUNDAY: Game 9, Loser’s bracket game, winner advances to championship, 9 a.m.; Game 10, Championship game, 11 a.m.; Game 22, Second championship game, if necessary, 1 p.m.
