ISF Junior World Championships Begin Today


The 8th ISF Junior Men’s World Championships will open today in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, with a 12:00 noon game (PDT) between the reigning, three time champions, Australia, and the team from Botswana.

The USA Junior men’s team, headed up by the coaching staff of Tim Lyon, Scott Standerfer and Gary Mullican will take on 2005 silver medalist, Japan, this evening, at 7:30pm, (4:30pm on the West Coast).

In the final game of the day, Canada, a consistently top contender with a gold in 1993, and bronze in ‘97, ‘01 and in ‘05, opens the championship against the Czech Republic at 6:30pm (3:30pm in Ontario) following the opening ceremonies.

Selected games will be broadcast live, in streaming audio, by Ballparkradio.com next week, starting on June 26, and continuing through the final weekend of play, including the medal round, June 28-29, 2009. Broadcaster Kyle Smith, of Hickson, Ontario, Canada will head things up for Ballparkradio.
