California A’s Drop Second Game at ISC World Tournament

Following a heart-breaking 5-4 loss in their opener, the California A’s dropped their second game at the ISC World Tournament, Monday morning, at Moline, Illinois.

Eddie Martin had two of the A’s 4 hits, while Sebastian Gervesutti held the tough Dominican lineup to 4 hits. Errors proved to the A’s downfall, with the game decided in the Dominican 4th:

Dominican Republic 4th – Leonardo E reached on an error by 3b. O’Brien R grounded out to 1b unassisted. Perez F walked; Leonardo E advanced to second. Santiago E pinch ran for Perez F. Rodriguez L struck out. Pichardo M singled, RBI; Santiago E advanced to third, scored on an error by c, unearned; Leonardo E scored, unearned. Waverick K struck out. 2 runs, 1 hit, 2 errors, 1 LOB.

The A’s will drop down into the elimination bracket for their next game. Any further losses would eliminate the A’s.

Next game: California A’s vs. Loser of NY Gremlins vs. Quad City Sox, 5pm tonight.

The Gremlins are favored to win that one, having nearly upset # 4 ranked Midwest Stampede yesterday, and finishing 2nd in the ASA Major tournament just a few weeks ago.

Update at 5:30pm: The NY Gremlins beat Quad City Sox 2-0, so the California A’s will play the host Quad City Sox.
