Team Rainey Nearly Upsets #5 in World, Eliminated from ISC World After Good Run

Team Rainey suffered a tough loss in the 7th inning of a game against the #5 ranked team in the world, Circle Tap. Behind the pitching of Rick Smith, Rainey led 4-2 headed into the 7th, on the strength of a four run outburst in the sixth inning:

Whittier CA 6th – Whiteford walked. Rainey singled; Whiteford advanced to second. Hunt singled; Rainey advanced to second; Whiteford advanced to third. Hardesty singled, 2 RBI; Hunt advanced to second; Rainey scored; Whiteford scored. Fowler reached on an error by ss; Hardesty advanced to second; Hunt advanced to third. Grebek singled, advanced to second, 2 RBI; Fowler advanced to third; Hardesty scored; Hunt scored. O’Brien to p. / for Dyck. Sauerheber grounded out to ss. Guinaldo reached on a fielder’s choice; Grebek advanced to third; Fowler out at home p to c. Duncan grounded out to p. 4 runs, 4 hits, 1 error, 2 LOB.

Circle Tap rallied for four runs in the 7th, with the final two runs coming on a walk-off-game winning home run.
