Fargo Bergstrom/Kegel Black Knights Update

Win 2004 Fargo Holm Classic

The Black Knights playing at home in the Holm Classic went 5-0 over the 
weekend to win the tournament with a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Fargo 
IS Knights currently ranked 10th by the ISC and the host team for the 
upcoming ISC World Tournament which starts August 12. Picking up the win 
for the Black Knights was Steve Langley who threw the entire game to gain 
the victory over Michael White. The Black Knights were lead offensively by 
3 HRs coming off the bats of Nathan Giesbrecht, Duane Clarkson and Rob 
Giesbrecht. Clarkson and R. Giesbrecht hit their round trippers back to 
back in the 6th inning with the Black Knights trailing 4-3 after 
surrendering a 3-0 lead in the 5th inning.

On the way to the tournament championship the Black Knights scored Round 
Robin victories over the Watertown Under 23s (11-0), Sioux Falls Sox ( 
8-0), Fargo Chub's Pub (6-2) providing them with an automatic berth to the 
tournament semi-finals. In the semi-final they played ISC 15th ranked 
Geneva RWP and scored a convincing 12-4 victory to secure a final's 
appearance. Darcy Byrne picked up the win for the Black Knights who were 
down early but fought back as Byrne settled down to throw the entire game 
for the victory. HRs came off the bats of Jon Lewis, Duane Clarkson, Nathan 
Giesbrecht and Nathan Wiens to pace the offense.

This was the third tournament win of the year for the Black Knights who 
next see action just prior to the ISC World Tournament on Thursday August 
11th against either BALLERUP VANDALS from Denmark or VOORZITTER STORKS from 
the Netherlands who are both competing in this years ISC World Tournament. 
The Black Knights play one these teams at 8:00 p.m. while the Fargo IS 
Knights plays the other at 6:00 p.m. in exhibition tune ups for the World 
Tournament for all 4 teams. Both games are being played at Jack Williams 
Stadium, site of the 2004 ISC World Tournament.

The 18th ranked Black Knights season record now stands at 42-12 heading 
into the ISC World Tournament. Line scores and stats for all the Black 
Knights' games in the Holm Classic will be out over the next 2 days.
