Aurora, IL

The Midland Explorers finished 4-2 over the weekend during the Aurora 
Fastpitch Softball Association's round-robin tournament, finishing in 2nd 
place.

Game 1
Explorers 8, RichWrap (Port Elgin, IL) 1
WP - Ty McKinney, LP - Larry Lagerhausen
Explorers opened the scoring in the first on a double by Kyle Beane and RBI 
single by Steve Roberts.  In the 2nd inning, RBI's by Dave Frick, Jeff 
Servinski, Beane, Roberts, Mike Gohsman and Pete Volk plated 6 runs.  Frick 
homered in the 5th to close out the scoring.  Roberts and Frick ended up 
with 3 hits each.  Beane and Dave Berthiaume each had 2 apiece.

Game 2
Explorers 3, Blackhawk Athletic Club (Rockford, IL) 0
WP - Doug Gillis (1 hit, 16K), LP - Ray Reynolds
An RBI single in the 1st by Beane gave Midland the lead.  Roberts homered 
in the in the 4th, and Steve Horning doubled in a run to close out the scoring.

Game 3
Explorers 9, Planggers (Benton Harbor, MI) 4 - 8 innings
WP - Gillis, LP - Sean Kelly
Servinski and Beane scored on an error in the 1st inning, and Midland was 
held scoreless until the 8th.  Horning, Servinski, Roberts, Chris Suggitt 
and Frick drove in runs in the extra frame.

Game 4
Quad City Sox (Quad Cities, IA) 7, Explorers 5 - 5 innings
WP - Tim Jacobs, LP - Beane
Jacobs held Midland to 3 hits in twirling the shutout.  Scott Lange hit 2 
homeruns for Quad Cities.

Game 5 - Semi-Final
Explorers 3, Bloomington Styx (Bloomington, IL) 0
WP - Gillis (2 hits, 13K), LP - Adam Folkard
Beane singled in a run, and Roberts hit a 2-run homer for in the 3rd for 
the only offense of the game.  Roberts finished 2x3.

Game 6 - Championship Game
Dolan and Murphy (Aurora, IL) 16, Explorers 9
WP - Jason Iuli, LP - Pete Volk

Jeff Servinski had 3 hits, including a 2-run homer.  Steve Roberts hit his 
3rd homer of the weekend, Chris Suggitt hit a 3-run homer.  Volk singled in 
a run in the 5th.  Roberts had 2 more hits to finish with a.588 average for 
the weekend.  D&M had 16 hits in the final.

Next up for Midland is the ASA Major National in South Bend, IN.  The 
Explorers open with Heflin at 7:00 p.m. this Thursday.
