PLAYOFF RESULT UPDATE
Current to:  8:00 PM CST Saturday, Aug. 7

The first round of playoffs are complete.  Here are the scores:

Markham Jaguars 4, Brampton Blazers 2

Markham's agressive offence was able to overcome Brampton's
outstanding defence in the first matchup of the playoffs.

Brampton opened with a strong performance in the first inning, opening
up a 2-0 lead on five hits.  It took until the sixth inning for the
Jaguars to put a mark on the board, which they did in a big way with a
big hit driving home two runners to open up the scoring.

White Rock Renegades 1, Chinguacousy Cougars '88 0

Both the Renegades and the Cougars came into this match with defence
amoung the best in the tournament.

The resulting game was a squeeker, taking until the last inning for
White Rock to put in the one and only run of the game.

Saskatoon Phantoms 3, Canadian Xtreme 0

Saskatoon put in 3 runs in the first inning off of four hits and held
on for the win.

Saskatoon will move on to play late tonight, while the tournament is
over for the Xtreme.

Winnipeg Lightning 4, Westman Invasion 0

The lighting were finally able to light up the bats today in time to
advance over their Manitoba rivals.

Winnipeg scored one in the first, two in the third, and one in the
sixth to put the game out of reach.


The next round will shape up like this:

Brampton Blazers vs. Saskatoon Phantoms - Sat. 7 PM
GAME IN PROGRESS - 5-2 for Brampton in the bottom of the 5th

Winnipeg Lightning vs. Chinguacousy Cougars '88 - Sat. 8 PM

White Rock Renegades vs. Markham Jaguars - Sun. 11 PM
