Day 4 (Saturday, Aug. 7) 2004 Bantam Girls Canadian Fast Pitch
Championship

Tie Breakers set playoffs, all stars announced

WINNIPEG, Manitoba It took two tie-breaker matches to finalize
playoff positions in the blue pool, both played on Saturday morning to
head up what promises to be the most exciting day of the tournament
yet.

The host Winnipeg Lightning squared off against the Markham Jaguars
for second place in the pool, meaning two lives in the playoff.

Winnipeg, who had been a big hitting team in the round robin, were
unable to put bat to ball as the Jaguars hit their way to a 2-0 win
with seven hits to the Lightning’s four.

The other match saw the Alberta Extreme and Quebec Rebelles fight for
the last playoff spot in the blue pool.

It took an extra inning for the Extreme to put down the Rebelles by a
score of 2-1 in a nail biter of a game that kept fans wondering until
the last bat.

With the spots determined, playoffs are set to begin at 3 p.m.this
afternoon. The matches are as follows:

Brampton Blazers vs. Markham Jaguars 3 p.m.
White Rock Renegades vs. Chinguacousy Cougars ’88 4 p.m.
Saskatoon Phantoms vs. Canadian Xtreme 5 p.m.
Westman Invasion vs. Winnipeg Lightning 6 p.m.
