Championship Day Update - Bantam Girls Canadian Fast Pitch Championship
WINNIPEG, Manitoba - After a 5 hour rain delay, play resumed at John
Blumberg Softball Complex on this championship day of the Bantam
Nationals.
The Brampton Blazers and the Chinguacousy Cougars were the first to
face off after the delay.
Brampton opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first with a shot
over the Cougar's outfielder's head to bring in a runner.
The Cougars responded in the top of the third with a long double that
nearly made it over the fence hit by #12, Vanessa Homiak. She would
later make it home off of a couple sacrifice hits.
Brampton retook the lead in the bottom of the inning with their own
long shot down the third base line good for a double and a run.
That would be all that Brampton would need to eliminate the
Chinguacousy Cougars 2-1.
Brampton now moves on to face the White Rock Renegades in a match set
to take place at any time. The winner of that game will play the hot-
streaking Markham Jaguars for the gold medal and a national title.
Organizers are hoping to squeeze in the two final games before the
return of any rain. Scores will be released as the games are played.
Stay tuned for the exciting run to the finish.
