A's, Jake's fail in bid for Intermediate 'C' ch;ship

FREDERICTON, N.B. - The Alberton Arms Pub Athletics and Jake's Kitchen of 
Charlottetown both failed in their bid to win the Island an Intermediate C 
Eastern Canadian title after both were defeated Sunday morning in their 
semi final games.

Alberton (3-1) and Jake's (4-0) finished the round robin cruising to wins 
and first place in pool A and B.

In the final, Alberton lost 6-4 to Hoyt Schooners who went 2-2 in round 
robin action, including a 6-2 setback to Alberton Saturday night.

Meanwhile, Jake's suffered a 4-3 loss in their morning semifinal to Renous 
Marlins and were eliminated. Alberton finishes in the bronze medal position 
while Jake's is fourth.

Hoyt Schooners went on to win the championship final Sunday afternoon 
behind a strong pitching outing by MVP Jeremy Tracy.

Renous Marlins had the tournament's top hitter (Jason Gregan) and the top 
pitcher (Jimmy Keenan).

No game scoring details were available.

At the Intermediate B in Whitney Pier and Reserve Mines, N.S., Summerside 
Greco Twins went 1-2, failing to make the playoffs.
