A's, Twins split doubleheader slugfest
SUMMERSIDE - The Alberton Arms Pub Athletics and Summerside Moosehead Greco
Twins split a Source for Sports Men's Intermediate Fast Pitch League
doubleheader slugfest Wednesday night in Summerside.
The two games combined saw 45 runs scored, with the A's taking game one
16-5, but fell 14-10 in game two to the Twins. Both games were played at
Queen Elizabeth Park's Very Important Volunteer Field in Summerside.
The offense in game one came late, and often as Alberton batted through the
lineup once, and came close to doing it twice.
The big bats of Chris Avery (3-5, runs scored, home run, six RBI), Jason
Milligan (3-4, two runs scored, RBI, three singles), Mitch Hardy (2-4,
double, two RBI, runs scored), Chad Rennie (1-1, runs scored, two RBI) and
Jason Rice (1-2, walk, run scored, home run, RBI) led the A's in game one.
Leading Summerside was Dale MacDougall (2-3, runs scored, RBI), Ryan Perry
(1-2, RBI, runs scored), Ian Power (1-3, RBI) and Joseph MacDougall (1-2,
two runs scored, walk, two RBI).
Winning pitcher Mitch Hardy went the distance, allowing five runs on seven
hits, walking four and fanning 10 batters. Losing pitcher Joseph MacDougall
went seven innings, walking five, giving up 14 earned runs on 15 hits and
striking out five.
In game two, Summerside used two back to back innings where they batted
through the lineup where they scored 12 of their 14 runs.
Leading the Twins at the dish was Dale MacDougall (3-4, three runs scored,
stolen base), Scott Bridges (3-4, two runs scored, RBI), Ian Power (2-4,
three-run home run, run scored, five RBI), Todd Richard (2-4, three RBI,
double, run scored) and Curtis Inman (2-3, two runs scored, RBI).
For Alberton, Troy Ellsworth (2-2, two walks, run scored, triple, RBI),
Jason Milligan (2-3, double, single, walk), the big bat of John Sentner
(2-4, double, four RBI) and Chris Avery (1-5, runs scored and two RBI).
Winning pitcher Ian Power pitched a complete game in his pitching debut,
giving up seven earned runs on 12 hits, walking five and sitting down two.
Losing pitcher Troy Ellsworth went six innings giving up 13 earned runs on
17 hits, walking three and fanning seven.
