Coaches' Symposium set for May


Softball Canada and Softball New Brunswick Inc. are presenting the 2005
International Softball Coaches Symposium in Fredericton May 20 - 22 at the
University of New Brunswick. The Symposium serves to provide the most
up-to-date training and instructional techniques and to raise the level of
softball knowledge among softball coaches across Canada. Featured presenters
are Mark Smith, Canada's senior men's national team head coach; Marty
Kernaghan, former senior men's national team player (considered to be one of
the top Canadian hitters ever); and Dr. Marion Alexander, professor of
biomechanics at the University of Manitoba. Topics to be covered include
Player Evaluation and Selection, Analysis of Softball Skills, Dealing with
Parents, Practice Planning, Offensive and Defensive Scenarios, Effective
Scouting, Hot Stove Session, Speed, Agility and Quickness Training, Sport
Psychology.
