2005 Bantam Girls Eastern Canadians

ALBERTON - A pair of West Prince business continue to follow the lead 
of the Tignish Credit Union in being involved in major sporting 
events in their community, by coming on board as division sponsors 
for the 2005 Tignish Credit Union Bantam Girls Eastern Canadian 
softball championship.

The 12-team, four day event is set for Aug 25-28 and hosted by the 
hometown West Prince Cavendish Produce Athletics and Summerside 
Stringers, who finished in third at the provincials held last weekend.

On Thursday, co-chair Allan Clark announced the finalized details 
that Greco/Capt Sub has come on as the Player of the Game sponsors 
for both squads, the home and visiting teams for all 35 games. He 
thanked owner Duke Cormier for his pledge of support for the tournament.

Meanwhile, Clark also said as far as the two divisions, with six 
teams in each one, that the Northport Pier and Alberton Pharmachoice 
have come on to sponsor the divisions generously.

"These two business coming on board show just how involved they are 
in their community, with events such as this magnitude," he added. 
"Coming on board as a division sponsor is a big commitment for these 
local businesses and we're sure the teams will thanks them by showing 
up at their business while they are here."

In the Northport Pier division, the co-host Summerside Stingers will 
lead the way, followed by P.E.I. women's Canada Games star Charley 
Johnson and the Cornwall Cougars, Au Ptit Mousse Penisule Acadienne 
(N.B. 2); Sud Ouest (Que. 1), Nova Scotia runner up Dartmouth 
Diamonds (N.S. 2) and Ontario champion Ancaster Cyclones (Ont. 1).

The Alberton Pharmachoice Division will consist of the Host West 
Prince Cavendish Produce Athletics, Kingston Kobras (Ont. 2), 
L'Express du Laval (Que. 2), Judique Celidh Royals (N.S. 1), 
Madawaska Chaleur (N.B. 1) and Cardigan, P.E.I's fourth entry at the 
tournament.
