Subject: Scarlett's Win NAFA Class A-Major World Series

North Mankato, Minnesota

Sunday evening, the Scarlett's of Sioux Falls, South Dakota won the NAFA
A-Major World Series Championship. The Scarlett's defeated the Duncan
Outlaws 11-5 in a "Winner Take All" Final. In just it's second year of
existence, the Scarlett's join the Boise Clippers (Boise, ID) as the only
champions in NAFA Class A-Major.

Duncan jumped on the scoreboard early, scoring five runs in the runs in the
top of the first inning, including a home run to begin the game by Allen Hodge.

The Scarlett's scored two runs in the bottom of third inning on an two-RBI
single by Chuck Huntimer.

The Scarlett's bats came alive in the sixth as they scored nine runs,
making it 11 unanswered runs by the Scarlett's. Three walks were mixed in
with singles by Chuck Huntimer, Lon Anderson, Don Hegge, Mark Mueller and a
double by Dave Loruny.

Dan Huisman, former Minnesota State Director for NAFA, got the Championship
game win in relief of starter LeRoy Jolstad.

The Duncan Outlaws forced the "If Necessary" game with a dramatic 6-5
win. The Scarlett's brought the game even 5-5 in the top of the
seventh. With one out, Jimmy Cobb singled. Cobb then advanced to third on
Brent Miller's single through the left side of the infield. The next
batter, Jeff Gangler, was walked intentionally. Tim Smart came to
plate. He hit a grounder to the second basemen, who threw the ball
home. The catcher then attempted to get Smart out at first base. Instead
his throw sailed wide and Miller scored to give the Outlaws the win.

Graff Pepsi of Brookfield, Missouri earned fifth place. Graff Pepsi lost
to the Scarlett's in the Winner's Bracket Final before losing to the Duncan
Outlaws. Rudd's Team and Trophy of Peoria, Illinois placed fourth.

The Scarlett's Dave Lorang was named the A-Major Most Valuable
Player. Teammate Leroy Jolstad earned Most Valuable Pitcher honors. Tim
Smart of the Duncan Outlaws was named the Best Offensive
Player. Outstanding Coach went to the Duncan Outlaws skipper Matt Miller.

The Sportsmanship Award went to Rudd's Team and Trophy.
