Coach Swift has been with the program for the past eight years and through
his dedication and effort, he has helped form one of the top coaching
staff’s in the country. An extremely well respected coach in the College
loop, Swift also is well known in Ontario provincial fastball circles. He
has been a major contributor to 6 OCAA Championships in his 8 years with
the program. A remarkable feat! His knowledge and positive approach towards
the game and the players is one of the reasons for the success. He is
looking forward to taking a run at a four-in-a-row this upcoming season.

Coach Theriault has been a welcomed addition to the coaching staff. In her
second year with the team, she made a positive impact with respect to the
players, decorum, team fundraising and leadership. In the spring of 2004,
Theriault was inducted into the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame for her longtime

This September, Coach Nemish will be entering his 17th season as Head Coach
of the Lords Fastball program. The 2004-05 season was simply amazing as the
Lords won their unprecedented record 12th OCAA Provincial Championship Gold
Medal, making the Lords three time Champions for the second time in school
history.

In doing so, the Lords captured their 20th regular season title (12-0) and
13th title in the past 14 years. Under his leadership, since taking over
from legendary Coach Richard Snowden, Coach Nemish has seen his team’s
medal every year except one, over the past 16 years.

His Lords squads have posted a simply incredible overall conference record
of 164-15 for an untouchable .916 winning percentage. Included in this
daunted record is an all-time school record and OCAA record of 42
consecutive conference wins. Of note, the Lords will enter the 2005-06 OCAA
Conference season sitting at 43 straight conference wins after going 12-0
last year.

The Lords Fastball program is highly respected in the province, as well
south of the border in New York, Illinois and Michigan State. The team went
2-2 this past year against very tough US competition.

The team plays its home games right on campus at Durham Field which
includes a PA booth, electronic scoreboard and red clay infield. A graduate
of Durham College himself, Coach Nemish resides in Oshawa and enjoys golf
in the off-season. The veteran Coach is the winningest coach in OCAA
Women’s Fastball history and reached the 200 career win milestone on
October 5th, 2002. He is an extremely disciplined coach who expects control
and dedication on and off the field from his team members, including the
importance of academic success.

2005-06 Season Outlook

The Durham College Women’s Fastball Team enters the 2005-06 OCAA Collegiate
fastball season as defending 3-time Ontario Champions and the owners of a
monster 43 game conference winning streak.

Coach Nemish and the 12-time OCAA Champions have not lost an OCAA
Conference Game since September 13th, 2002, where they dropped a 7-3
decision to Canadore College. The very next day, the Lords defeated
Canadore College 3-0 to start an amazing record win streak which now stands
at 43. This record streak continues into its 4th season and includes 3
consecutive OCAA Gold Medals.

The Lords open defence of their titles on September 15th at home on campus
vs. Kitchener’s Conestoga College CONDORS. They will also look to keep
their amazing streak going as they open the 2005-06 season.

A highly talented roster of student-athletes have worn the Green & Gold
during this streak and are responsible along with Head Coach Jim Nemish and
Assistants Mal Swift and Rosemary Theriault. The amazing streak spans 3
seasons and now enters its 4th season!
