LORDS FASTBALL WINS ANNUAL CAN-AM CLASSIC INVITATIONAL



Oshawa – Hot off the huge 9 inning victory on 
Friday night to keep their 46 game conference 
winning streak alive, the Lords women's fastball 
team carried the success over into the weekend.

The ladies played host to and dominated the 
annual Can-Am Classic @ Durham Field on 
campus.  The annual invitational featured the 
Durham Lords, Mercyhurst Saints (North East, 
Pa.), Mohawk Mountaineers (Hamilton) and Seneca Sting (North York).

The Lords offence, defence and pitching proved to 
be too much on this weekend, as Durham went 
undefeated in the round robin play and ended up 
defeating the Mercyhurst Saints in the 
Championship, for the second time in the tournament.

To sum up the weekend; the Lords scored 36 runs 
while only allowing 4, the Lords third-year 
shortstop, Kristy Kelly was named Tournament Top 
Hitter going 8-12 (.667 Avg.), Durham's freshmen, 
Nicole Seguin, was named Top Pitcher going 2-0 in 
13 innings of work, allowing only 3 runs and 
striking out 6. While the Tournament MVP, was 
Durham's first-year outfielder Kathy Glen.
