Doreen Dalton tournament undone by the weather
Monday October 24th 2005

Persistent rain has seen play abandoned in the Doreen Dalton
premier onemen’s softball tournament at Fraser Park, Lower Hutt
today.

After two days of round robin play between the 11 teams entered
therewere only four sides left in the title race going into today.
However therain started to fall this morning just as games in
the plate section ofthe tournament were getting underway. The
rain continued to fall and thepate section was abandoned.

The semi finals between the top four sides were due to get underway
at11am but the rain meant they never got underway. This afternoontournament
officials decided it was too wet and the conditions were toodangerous
for any games to go ahead today so the tournament was calledoff.

With the rain rendering any play today impossible the Doreen
Daltontournament title for 2005/06 will be shared between the
four semifinalists Ramblers, Miramar, Poneke Kilbirnie and Hutt
City United.
  
Tournament Top Batter: Malcolm Namana, ave .667 (Hutt ValleyCardinals).
Tournament Top Pitcher: David Gollan, era 0.00 (Miramar).
