Women’s National team ready for VI Pan American Softball Championship
November 23rd, 2005

(Ottawa) Softball Canada’s Women’s National team will take the field on 
Saturday
November 26th at 21:30 versus Cuba in its first match up at the VI Pan 
American Softball
Championship.  The event which runs from November 26th to December 3rd in 
Guatemala
City, Guatemala, serves as a qualifier for the 2006 World Championships 
(China), as well
as the 2007 Pan American Games (China).

"The Pan Am Softball Championship is the first step Canada will need to 
climb to have
the opportunity to participate in the 2008 Olympic Games.  I am encouraged 
by the
players’ attitude and work ethic throughout our camp and am confident that 
they will
bring their best selves to Guatemala City for the tournament”, stated Head 
Coach Lori
Sippel.  “It is imperative that the team not only competes well in this 
tournament but
in doing so gains the experience of tournament play which will be 
"priceless" going into
future competitions."

L'Équipe nationale féminine prête pour le VIe Championnat Panaméricain de 
softball

(Ottawa) L'Équipe nationale féminine de softball du Canada est prête à 
sauter sur le
terrain des VIe Championnats Panaméricains de softball le samedi 26 
novembre à 21h30
contre Cuba à son premier match du championnat. Le tournoi se poursuivra du 
26 novembre
au 3 décembre à Guatemala, au Guatemala, et il servira de qualification en 
vue du
Championnat du monde de 2006 (Chine), de même que des Jeux Panaméricains de 
2007
(Brésil).

"Le Championnat Panaméricains de softball est la première étape que le 
Canada a besoin
de franchir pour avoir la possibilité de participer aux Jeux olympiques de 
2008.  J'ai
été encouragée par l'attitude des joueuses et par leur éthique de travail 
tout au long
du camp d'entraînement et j'ai confiance qu'elles donneront le meilleur 
d'elles-mêmes à
Guatemala durant le tournoi”, a déclaré l'entraîneure chef Lori 
Sippel.  “Il est
impératif que l'équipe, non seulement se tire bien d'affaires dans ce 
tournoi, mais que
les joueuses profitent de l'occasion pour prendre de l'expérience du jeu de 
tournoi
qui "n'aura pas de prix" dans les compétitions futures. "
