Subject: 2006 AAU Team Profile - Kitchener Hallman Twins, Canada
This is one of a continuing series of team profiles on the teams
competing in the 2006 AAU International Tournament January 19-22, 2006
in Orlando, Florida.
The Kitchener Hallman Twins are in Pool C, and will face
Venezuela/Miami, Alabama Fastpitch, and Jamaica in the round robin
portion of the tournament.
A bit more about the team, and their roster for the 2006 AAU:
- host team for the 2006 ISC Worlds
- 3rd at 2005 ISC Worlds
- bronze medal - 2005 Canadian Nationals
Players:
TODD MARTIN (Pitcher) perennial World all-star
- 7 ISC All World Awards
- 2 ISC Championships
- member of the 30 man Canadian National Team Pool
- heading into his 2nd season with the TWINS
PAUL KOERT (Lefthanded Pitcher)pitched for Quaker in 2005
- 27 yrs. old
- one of the best Lefties in the game
- 2 time World All Star
- member of the 30 man Canadian National team Pool
- 1st season with the TWINS
DAN MARTIN (Lefthanded Pitcher) - 21 yrs.old
- won back to back Canadian Midget Championships
- one of the young up and comers in the game
- 2nd year Junior with the Elmira Juniors
CHRIS SHEWFELT (Catcher)- 27 yrs. old
- one of the best young catchers in the game
- rocket arm, great defense and a solid hitter
- has caught Paul Koert since junior
- member of the 30 man Canadian National Team Pool
- 1st season with the TWINS
KEVIN GIBSON (Catcher / Utiltity)
- plays in the Aurora & District Fastball League where he
catches Paul Koert as a member of the Claremont Rebels
DAVE BAILEY ( Designated Player / Catcher)
- veteran DP
- had a good season at the plate in 2005
- game winning home run off of Muizaleer to eliminate
defending World Champion Broken Bow from the 2005 Worlds
- also a member of the Sebringville Sting 2002 NAFA "AA" Champions
- 3rd season with the TWINS
JODY EIDT (3rd baseman)- one of the top players in the World at present
- first player to ever win back to back ISC MVP awards
- perennial World all star
- member of the Canadian National Team
- 1st season with the TWINS
EVAN BOYD (short stop)- 27 yrs. old
- solid middle infielder with great hands
- a tough out at the plate
- may move to 2nd base in 2006 to make room for Chris
Jones at short stop
- 2nd season with the TWINS
GRANT BAECHLER (2nd Base) - 25 yrs. old
- one of the top young players in the game that can play
any position on the diamond
- grooming to become a dangerous Senior Level Hitter
- a player to watch for years to come
- heading into his 3rd season with the TWINS
TODD BUDKE (1st Base) -perennial World All Star
- former professional baseball player
- great fielder and one of the toughest outs in the game
- currently a member of THE FARM
- played with Todd Martin for THE FARM
TEDDY KOSCIESZA (outfield)
- former member of the TWINS
- current member of the Innerkip Eagles
- great veteran hitter
- tough to strike out
DALE LEVY (Center Field)- arguably one of the best Center Fielders in
the World right now
- rocket of an arm
- hits for huge power
- fleet footed and gets to everything in the outfield
- member of the Canadian National Team Pool
- also a member of the Sebringville Sting 2002 NAFA "AA"
Champions (MVP)
- 3rd year with the TWINS
GREG MILLER (outfield)
- World Class hitter that took last season off to become a "dad"
- has won 3 Canadian Championships
- former member of the Toronto Gators, THE FARM TAVERN and
the Owen Sound Selects
- itching to get back into the game
- 1st year with the TWINS
PETE STEWART (outfield / Utility)
- member of the Sebringville Sting
- Hits for Power (Big Home Runs)
- still developing as a hitter but has potential to take any
pitcher deep
DOUG EIDT - (Player / Manager)
- will manage his nephew Jody in 2006 for the first time
since Jody played junior ball
- coached Jody in Midget & Junior
- will take a few swings at the AAU like he always does
- can still be a dangerous hitter
- 3rd season as Field Manager of the TWINS
DEREK SHACKLETON - (Coach)
- Normally a starting infielder and dangerous batter, Derek
is still recovering from a Broken Knee Cap and muscle damage that he
suffered in a collision at 3rd base during the 2005 Canadians
- specialists not sure why it hasn't healed better to this point
- scheduled for an MRI in the next few weeks
- status for the 2006 fastball season is doubtful
- member of the Sebringville Sting 2002 NAFA "AA" Champions
