Mary Kay Diaz
STILLWATER Mary Kay McAvoy Diaz, 45, of Clinton Court, died Saturday,
March
18, 2006 of medical complications at the Clark Institute in Tijuana,
Mexico,
with her devoted husband at her side, where she was receiving
alternative
natural medical treatment for pancreatic cancer. Born in Raleigh,
N.C.,
January 18, 1961, she was the daughter of Thomas and Jean Taylor
McAvoy of
Stillwater. In addition to her parents, survivors include her
husband of
almost six years, James H. Diaz, whom she married May 28, 2000;
her
cherished one-year-old daughter, Angelina Emmanuelle Diaz; her
sister,
Debbie (Leon) Gandron of Mechanicville, and her husband's parents,
Dr.
Michael Diaz of Troy and Mercedes Diaz of Loudonville. A 1979
graduate of
Stillwater High School, and Junior College of Albany and Spencer
Business
Institute, Mary Kay had held a number of jobs, lastly working
for Plant
Design, doing floral arrangements at a number of shopping malls.
Previously,
she had worked for DeCrescente Distributing of Mechanicville,
was the former
Ballston Spa District Manager for the Daily Gazette, worked at
the office of
C.L. King Stockbrokers of Albany and was a photographer for Black
Studios of
Schenectady. Mary Kay was creative with flowers and photography,
and was
very involved with the Alliance Church of Ballston Spa. Mary
Kay's pride and
joy was giving birth to a beautiful little girl last year and
looking after
her daughter's every need. Calling hours will be held at the
DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville
on Thursday
from 4-7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday
at 7:30.
Burial will be in Stillwater Union Cemetery, Stillwater Friday
at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Angelina Diaz,
C/O
DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home or the Alliance Church, 257 Rowland
St.,
Ballston Spa, NY 12020 in loving memory of Mary Kay McAvoy Diaz.
