Softball Canada's Senior Women's National Team selects its 17
best athletes

 

(Ottawa, ON) – Seventeen (17) senior women athletes have been
named to represent Canada. The team will participate in the Ontario
Pro Tour, the Canada Cup, the US Cup and will culminate with
the 2006 International Softball Federation World Championships
to be held August 27th to September 5th, 2006 in Beijing, China
a qualifier for the 2008 Summer Olympics. 

 

The athletes who have been chosen to represent Canada at the
World Championships are:

"I am please to announce the members of the Canadian Senior Women’s
National Team.  These women will represent Canada throughout
a summer tour which will ultimately lead to the ISF World Championships
(Olympic Qualifier) in Beijing, CHN" stated Lori Sippel, Head
Coach.   "There is no doubt in my mind that earning and deserving
the right to stand upon the podium in Beijing is utmost in every
player’s and coach’s mind.  These athletes have earned the right
to wear “Canada” across their chest.  I am pleased by their efforts
to this point and am excited to begin the team journey when the
summer tour begins. "

 

The team will play together for the first time as Canada's National
Team in a mini pro tour in southern Ontario versus the New England
Riptide in a series of exhibition games from June 17th to June

L’Équipe nationale féminine senior de softball du Canada sélectionne
ses 17 meilleures athlètes

 

(Ottawa, ON) – Dix-sept (17) athlètes féminines senior on été
choisi pour représenter le Canada.  L'Équipe participera dans
le Pro Tour d'Ontario, la Coupe du Canada de softball, la Coupe
des É-U de softball et culminera avec les Championnats Mondiaux
de la Fédération International du Softball, un qualificateur
pour les Olympiques de 2008, le 27 août au 5 septembre, 2006.

"Il me fait plaisir d'annoncer les membres de l'équipe nationale
féminine senior.  Ces femmes représenteront le Canada dans une
gamme de compétition cette été qui mènera finalement aux championnats
mondiaux de la fédération internationale du softball (un qualificateur
olympique) en Beijing, CHN" indique Lori Sippel, entraîneure
chef.  "Il n'y a aucun doute dans mon esprit que gagner et mériter
le droit de se tenir sur le podium en Chine est l'idée prévalente
dans l'esprit de chaque joueur et entraîneure.  Ces athlètes
se sont mérités le droit de porter le symbole "Canada".  Je suis
satisfaite de leurs efforts à ce point et je suis excité de commencer
la compétition avec cette équipe cette été."

 

L'équipe nationale jouera ensemble pour la première fois en titre
d'équipe canadienne nationale lors du Pro Tour d'Ontario dans
une mini série contre le New England Riptide de la ligue professionnelle
de balle rapide le 17 au 25 juin, 2006.  Pour plus d'information
