Softball Canada's Women National Team introduces softball to
youngsters

(Kitchener, ON) - Softball Canada in association with Softball
Ontario and the Guelph and Kitchener Minor Softball Association
held a Parmalat Learn to Play initiation clinic for 4 to 8 year
old children at Peter Hallman Ball Yard on Saturday June 17th,
2006.

Canada's top 35 female softball athletes greeted nearly 100 excited
children in an effort to expose the sport of softball as well
as the National Team Program at the grassroots level. Lead by
the National Team athletes, the youngsters participated in various
activities learning fundamental softball skills with a strong
focus on fun and excitement in a positive atmosphere. The series
of "playground" style activities were followed by an autograph
session and an interaction period with the National Team Athletes.

Lauren Bay (Trail, BC), Kaila Holtz (Edmonton, AB) Megan Timpf
(Simcoe, ON) and Shannon Robinson (Toronto, ON), who were not
on hand for the Parmalat Learn to Play initiation clinic visited
the children's wing of the Grand River Hospital in Kitchener,
Ontario.

"It is a thrill for the children, Jenna was excited to be here"
stated Craig Crawford, former Men's National Team Athlete. "As
a player, I really enjoyed participating in clinics. It is a
great opportunity for the participants to learn from the best.
The Women's National Team has done a great job in promoting
the sport and bringing the game back to various communities as
well as growing the sport at the grassroots level."

The Parmalat Learn to Play initiation clinic was the first stop
in the 2006 Senior Women's National Team Ontario Tour. The Tour
will continue with games in Milverton (June 18th), Guelph (June
19th), Kitchener (June 22nd, 24th and 25th) and Brampton (June
23rd).

The Softball Canada Parmalat Learn to Play Program is designed
to introduce children to the sport of Softball in a new and exciting
way. The focus of the program is to provide an hour of fun, games
and activities that will develop every player’s individual Softball
skills, and, at the same time, build self confidence. Softball
Canada is dedicated to improving the lives of Canada's youth
by providing a fun environment with safe activities that improve
physical fitness.
