Wyevale Tribe @ Innerkip

 

The Wyevale Tribe finished a disappointing 0-2 at the ISC II
qualifier in Innerkip this past weekend.  What is even more disappointing
is that the Tribe gave up 1 earned run (which was aided by the
international rule), and only 4 hits in the two games, but the
Tribe could not manage to score a run in either game, and in
the end the lack of hitting, and more importantly timely hitting
were the Tribe’s undoing.

 

In game #1, McNabb took to the mound to face the Alvinston Indians.
 Graham gave up 1 hit, and walked several but was able to pitch
out of most of the trouble.  In the 4th inning 2 errors led to
the lone run in the game.  The Tribe managed only 2 hits in the
game (both by McNabb).  The winning pitcher was Brad Young for
Alvinston.  Final score Alvinston 1 – Tribe 0

 

In game #2, ace Jason Giffen toed the rubber against Shaun Winship
in what proved to be another pitching duel.  The game remained
scoreless through the first 7.  In the eighth inning the Tribe
could not manage to put their run across while a good sacrifice
and a ground ball won it for Glencoe.  Giffen gave up just 3
hits and the lone run in the eighth, but Winship was one better
giving up 5 hits but not allowing a run.  Final Score Glencoe
1 – Wyevale 0.

 

So the Tribe will make a conscious effort to improve their offence
over the remainder of the year, and will hopefully qualify for
the OCC, to which they will again try to achieve their ultimate
goal which is a berth at the TOC.  The Tribe would like to thank
both Alvinston and Glencoe for a couple of very good games, and
wish them the best for the remainder of the year, and would also
like to congratulate Elora for earning a birth into this years
TOC.
