Six teams entered in Fawcetts Canada Day shootout

CHARLOTTETOWN - Six teams from across Atlantic Canada have confirmed
their entries to the second annual Charlottetown Fawcetts Don
Fitzpatrick Canada Day weekend shootout at City Diamond and Spring
Lane in Charlottetown.

The Shootout will start Friday night as the Fawcetts host the
PEI Jrs and the Kinkora Hitmen at City Diamond. Game times are
6pm and 8pm. The tournament will run through Saturday and Sunday.

Fawcett regular Mike Bishop and Steve Langley will be toeing
it up this weekend. This duo makes up one of the finest pitching
staffs in Eastern Canada. 

They will be joined by Brian Urquart for this years nationals.
Brian is the brother of former PEI Rocket, Corey Urquart. 

The offence will be lead by current national team member and
Fargo, N.D. Kegel Black Knight Jeff Ellsworth, Chris Craig and
Jamie MacDonald. MacDonald has been the Fawcetts hottest hitter
so far this summer. 

Coach Alan Power is excited about having most of the team together
for the first time 

"With all the bad weather this summer and Jeff and Steve playing
in North Dakota, it’s been hard to get most of the team together,"
Power said. 

When asked about this weekends competition coach Power commented
that "although we are the only true senior level team this weekend
some of these teams have some good pitching and in softball with
good pitching anything can happen". 

Other teams entered include the PEI Juniors, Glace Bay Silver
Bullets from N.S., Kinkora Hitmen, Hunter’s Ale House and Newfoundland
and Labrador.
