Aussies Trample on Day 2

 

The Australia Open Women’s team, the Aussie Spirit,lead their
pool on day two of the 2006 Canada Cup after three straight wins.

 

In again what was a strong performance from the mound and atbat,
the Aussie Spirit defeated Washington Blast 9-0.  

 

Australian pitcher and co-captain, Tanya Harding gave theopponents
four safe hits, but the visitors were unable to convert with
Hardingtoo strong on the mound with eight strike outs.

 

The Australian bats were again instrumental with SandraAllen
getting a run on the board early in the piece and then a five
run inningat the top of the fifth. 

 

Amanda Doman scored atwo-run home run at the top of the fifth,
allowing team mate Natalie Ward home, ending the game in the
fifthinning with the run-ahead rule.

The Aussie Spirit plays Canada Elite at 8.30am (AEST) tomorrow,
Tuesday 4July.
