Keating's Fitness Center from Wilkes-Barre, Pa. has won the 2006
Championship of the Mid Atlantic Travel League. They completed
the year in the Travel League with a 18-1 record. This is the
3rd consecutive year that Keating's has won the championship.
Keating's had to win 3 games in a row on Sunday to accomplish
this feat. In the championship game they defeated the Lancaster
Merchants 9-1.
 
Keating's opened up the weekend with a Friday night doubleheader.
In the first game Bill Hillhouse held off the S. Lebanon bats
for a 3-2 victory. Hillhouse had 13 strike outs and no walks
in his complete game win. 

Steve Sell paced Keating's going 1 for 2 with a 2 run 2nd inning
triple and a run scored. Mark Smith had a double and a run scored.
Mike Keating, Dave Martin, and Justin Stock all singled.

Mike Rohrer led S. Lebanon with a 2 for 3 effort, including a
homer, a single, and a stolen base. Bob Wengert was 2 for 4 with
a double, single, and an RBI. Jeremy Tracy who took the loss
on the mound, had 7 strike outs and 1 walk. 
 
In the 2nd game, Keating's lost to the KMV Rise 6-3. Ben Blonde
picked up the win in relief, pitching the last 4 innings, allowing
no runs while striking out 4 and walking none. Matt Daley led
the offense for the Rise going 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, an RBI,
and a run. Bart Fenstermacher was also 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
John Hurst had a single and an RBI.

Offensively for Keating's, Mark Smith was 2 for 3 with a double,
a single, and an RBI. Dave Martin went 2 for 3 with 2 singles
and a stolen base. Frank Keating Jr., Bret McHenry, Steve Sell,
and Justin Stock had a single each. Bill Hillhouse pitched 5
scoreless innings in relief striking out 7 and walking 1. 
 
Keating's defeated the Pa. Power team 6-2 in a game that was
halted for about 3 hours because of a tremendous downpour. The
game was eventually finished after the rain was over. Greg Garrity
was the starting and winning pitcher striking out 9 and walking
3 in the 7 inning affair. 

Mark Smith led Keating's 14 hit attack with a 2 for 2 effort.
He had a home run, single, 3 RBI's, and a run. Frank Keating
Jr., Dave Martin, and Steve Sell each had a double and single.
Bret McHenry was 2 for 2 with 2 singles, an RBI, and a run. Greg
Garrity, Steve Ray, Justin Stock, and Dave Stokes each had a
single. 

For the Power, Pagano was 2 for 3 with 2 singles. Giblin had
a single and 2 RBI's.
 
Bill Hillhouse threw a 2 hit shutout as Keating's defeated Key
A.C. 6-0. Hillhouse recorded 10 strike outs and no walks in the
5 inning game. 

Dave Stokes led the Keating offense going 2 for 3. He had a double,
single, an RBI and scored a run. Dave Martin was also 2 for 3
with 2 singles, an RBI and a run. Greg Garrity, Steve Ray, Steve
Sell, and Mark Smith all singled.

Casey was 1 for 2 with a single for Key A.C.
 
In the 1st game of the playoff portion of the weekend on Sunday,
Keating's defeated Bob Hoffman's 10-0. In the 6 inning affair
Dave Stokes pitched a perfect game. He finished the game with
14 strike outs. 

Leading the 13 hit attack for Keating's was Mike Keating, Dave
Martin, Bret McHenry, Mark Smith and Justin Stock with 2 singles
apiece. Kevin Smith blasted a 6th inning grand slam. Steve Ray
and Steve Sell had a single each.
 
In the semi-final game Keating's defeated the KMV Rise 3-1 to
advance to the championship game. Bill Hillhouse had 8 strike
outs and 2 walks to record the complete game victory. 

Dave Martin paced Keating's offense going 2 for 2. He had a triple,
single and scored a run. Greg Garrity was 2 for 4 with 2 singles
and an RBI. Steve Ray had a double and a run. Bret McHenry, Justin
Stock and Dave Stokes all singled.
 
For the Rise Matt Daley and Keith Hammerschmidt singled. Losing
pitch Ben Blonde had 7 strike outs and 4 walks.
 
Keating's defeated the Lancaster Merchants in the 5 inning championship
game 9-1. Greg Garrity toed the rubber for Keating's and came
away with a 1 hitter. The only hit for Lancaster was a 3rd inning
solo home run by Scott Fetterolf. Garrity had 10 strike outs
while walking 3 batters.

Catcher Steve Sell led Keating's 10 hit attack with a 2 for 3
effort. He had a double, single, an RBI, and a run scored. Mike
Keating was also 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 runs. Bret McHenry
had an RBI triple and scored a run. Greg Garrity, Frank Keating
Jr., Dave Martin, Steve Ray and Dave Stokes all singled. 
 
Bill Hillhouse compilled a 3-0 record for the weekend. He pitched
24 innings, had 38 strike outs, 3 walks, and a 0.88 ERA. Greg
Garrity had a 2-1 record, pitching 14 innings, had 22 strike
outs, and 10 walks. Dave Stokes was 1-0, a perfect game. 
 
Offensively for the Fitnessmen, shortstop Dave Martin had a tremendous
3 days. He was 12 for 19, .632 Avg, 1 triple, 1 double, 10 singles,
scored 7 runs, .700 OBP, .789 SLG.
 
Mark Smith had a .444 Avg, a home run, 2 doubles, 5 singles,
6 RBI's, .619 OBP, .722 SLG.
 
Steve Sell batted .444 also with a triple, 2 doubles, 5 singles,
.667 SLG.
 
Mike Keating had a .417 Avg, .500 OBP, 
 
Steve Ray had a .357 Avg and 3 stolen bases; Bret McHenry: .350
Avg, triple, 6 singles, .571 OBP; Dave Stokes: .313 Avg; Justin
Stock: .300 Avg, .538 OBP.
 
Keating's over-all season record is now 23-5. Their next action
will be tomorrow in the Bob Walsh Memorial Classic in Allentown,
Pa. They have a 9:00PM game vs. the Orillia Riversharks.
