Canada Falls To The Brakettes in Series Opener

(STRATFORD, CT) - Team Canada fell to the Connecticut Brakettes
of the National Professional Fastpitch League by a score of 4-1
at Frank DeLuca HOF Field on Wednesday night.

The Brakettes came out strong on Wednesday, in what has now become
a 2 game series of international friendly competition. The Brakettes
took to an early first inning one run lead and held the Canadians
scoreless through five complete innings. The Brakettes would
increase their lead to 4 runs in the fifth inning led by an Aimee
Minor two run single

Canada's lone run came in the sixth inning with an Angela Lichty
(Guelph, ON) lead off triple to center field which was followed
by a Cindy Eadie (Brantford, ON) single to right field, with
2 out, scoring Lichty.

While Canada had plenty of opportunities, to score throughout
the game, Brakette's pitcher, Sarah Pauly, eliminated almost
every Canadian threat striking out 8 Canadian batters and holding
the Canadians to only 5 hits. 

Robin Mackin (Newmarket, ON) received the start for Canada in
the circle and was credited with the loss giving up one un-earned
run out of four solid innings of work before being relied by
Danielle Lawrie (Langley, BC).

After having to cancel Tuesday's game due to rain and Friday's
game due to travel arrangements, the Canadian National Team will
look to split the series on Thursday night before leaving for
the World Championships in Beijing China on Friday. To view the
