Canada Splits Series with Brakettes

(STRATFORD, CT) - Canada shutout the Brakettes 3-0 to split the
2 game series as part of their pre World Championship training
on Thursday night at Frank DeLuca HOF stadium in Stratford, CT.

In what was characterized as a total team effort, Canada defeated
the Connecticut Brakettes, of the National Professional Fastpitch
League. Led by their aggressive and spirited play Canada produced
8 hits and took advantage of 7 Connecticut errors to take a 3-0
win over the Brakettes. 

Lauren Bay (Trail, BC) received the start, and was solid for
Canada in four innings of work, striking out 6 and giving up
only 3 hits. Kaila Holtz (North Vancouver, BC) came to Bay's
relief striking out 4 and allowing only 1 hit, in three innings
of work, to keep the shout out alive.

With their pre World Championship training all but over, the
Senior Women's National Team will head to Beijing China to compete
in the XI ISF World Championship from August 27th to September
