Aussies down Botswana at World Championship

 

The Australian Open Women’s team, Aussie Spirit, havewon their
fourth game at the ISF Women’s World Championship defeating Botswana
9-0 in Beijing, China today.

 

The AussieSpirit batters performed well against the slow pitching
Botswana team with Stacey Porter and Kylie Cronk scoring in thebottom
of the first to take Australia to a 2-nillead. 

 

Australia took afurther three point lead in the bottom of the
second with Kate Quigley, Amanda Doman and Danica Howlett scoring.


 

In thebottom of the third, the Aussie Spirit batters were on
the attack again with Simmone Morrow, Quigley and Doman all crossing
thehome plate. Marissa Carpadios sealed the game in the bottom
of the fourth witha home run over the fence to take Australia
to a 9-nillead. 

 

Australia’spitcher Kelly Gentle kept Botswanabatters at bay with
eight strike-outs, allowing only one hit in the fiveinnings of
play. 

 

Australia leads theresults table in Pool B with Japan a closesecond.
Australia, USA, Japan and China are so far unbeaten. 

 

Australia plays Venezuela at 5.30pm (AEST) in tomorrow’s play.
