Subject: Esso Bees
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The most successful sponsor of any team in Canada had to be the
Esso Oil
Company back in the 1980's. They sponsored a team that gave them
an
excellent return on investment.
For $1.00 the team acquired the rights to use the Esso logo.
So Esso sponsored a ladies softball team called the Bees and
their logo was
a giant, black and gold 'bumble bee'.
They were based out of Alberta as a senior women's club and as
I understood
their hats, key chains, posters, t-shirts and just about every
promotional
product you could name was in HUGE demand.
They financed many a road trip with the earnings from the sales
of their
stuff. Their logo was really something. It had a the Esso logo
and
underneath it was the giant bumble bee.
You guessed it, they were the:
SOB's
Esso Bees
Regards in Softball,
Henner
