Three teams unbeaten in Saints tournament
Saturday October 28th 2006

The first day of play in the Saints Premier One Women's tournament
atFraser Park, Lower Hutt today has seen three teams maintain
a perfectrecord.

For the tournament the eight teams have been split into two sections
forround robin play. Te Aroha have been the dominant team in
section A andare currently the only unbeaten team in their section
after two gameshaving scored a sack full of runs. They opened
the day by thumpingNewlands 16-0 and backed it up with a resounding
11-0 victory over PonekeKilbirnie.

In section B there are two teams still to taste defeat the tournamenthosts
Saints and last year's runners up Johnsonville.  Saints havescored
a lot of runs today defeating Tawa 14-1 and also beating Taradaleof
Hawkes Bay 8-1. Johnsonville have had some tighter score lines
but arestill to be beaten they were too good for Taradale 7-5
and overcame Tawa8-1. 

Round robin play will be completed tomorrow morning before the
top twosides from each section go on to contest the semifinals
ahead of thefinal at 3.30pm.

Newlands 7 Porirua 5, Te Aroha 11 Poneke Kilbirnie 0, Johnsonville
7Taradale 5, Saints 14 Tawa 1, Te Aroha 16 Newlands 0, Porirua
12 PonekeKilbirnie 2, Saints 8 Taradale 3, Johnsonville 8 Tawa
