2006 F. R. Feaver Memorial Trophy

The F. R. Feaver Memorial Trophy is awarded annually in memory
of Frank Feaver, who was the O.A.S.A. Secretary from 1943 – 1956.
Frank’s dedication, service and devotion played a major role
in the expansion and development of the game of softball. This
award was first introduced in 1972.

This award is presented to a player, official or officer of any
league or Association, who in the opinion of the Feaver awards
committee has made an outstanding contribution to the game of
softball.

The Feaver award for 2006 is presented to Sylvia Ryan of Whitby.

Sylvia has certainly made an outstanding contribution to the
game of softball both at the local and provincial levels.

Sylvia has been a manager, recruiter, organizer, fundraiser,
seamstress, refreshment supplier and mother to hundreds of fastball
players for 35 years.

She was involved with the O.A.S.A. pee-wee boy’s champions in
1979, the O.A.S.A. bantam boy’s champs in 1981, and the O.A.S.A.
midget boy’s champs in 1984. She was with the Claremont Rebels
Oshawa City and District Softball Association champions in 1998
and the Claremont Rebels Intermediate Men’s Oshawa City and District
Softball Association champions in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

Sylvia has been involved with 3-4 fastball teams each year since
2003. In 2002 and 2003 she was the Secretary for the Oshawa
City and District Softball Association. In 2004 and 2005 she
was a director for the O.A.S.A. Expo, and in 2005 she was the
secretary/treasurer for the Oshawa City and District Softball
Association as well as the 1st Vice-President of the Canadian
Masters Fastball Association. Sylvia was also appointed to the
O.A.S.A. Advisory Council in 2006.

The O.A.S.A. is proud to have Sylvia Ryan (the first lady to
receive this award) as the F.R. Feaver award winner for 2006.
